Adafruit 1.8" Color TFT Shield w/microSD and Joystick - v 2

£35.80 GBP Sale

This compact and vibrant Arduino shield is an ideal solution for adding a small, colorful display to your projects. Featuring a 1.8" TFT display, it comes with a microSD card slot, a 5-way joystick navigation switch, and three selection buttons, providing a versatile interface for your projects. The shield uses just 4 pins for communication and includes its own pixel-addressable frame buffer, making it an efficient addition to your setup without consuming too many resources.

The shield is now updated to be fully compatible with the 'Arduino R3' format, working with all Arduino boards including the Metro M0, M4, Arduino Mega, Zero, and more. It uses Adafruit Seesaw technology for the TFT backlight, reset, and button inputs, allowing easy I2C communication with just 2 pins to control all 8 switches.

The 1.8" display boasts 128x160 color pixels, delivering vibrant 18-bit color (262,144 shades) via the ST7735R TFT driver. Unlike low-cost CSTN LCD displays, this TFT display offers better color accuracy and faster refresh rates.

The shield features a soldered TFT display, a 3.3V ultra-low-dropout regulator, and a 3/5V level shifter for compatibility with both 3V and 5V Arduino boards. It also includes a microSD card holder for loading full-color bitmaps (microSD card sold separately), a 5-way navigation switch, and three tactile buttons for additional user input.

Compatible with Arduino UNO, Mega, Zero, and other shield-compatible boards, the shield uses SPI (SCK/MOSI/MISO), I2C (SDA & SCL), and digital pin #8 for communication. The microSD card interface utilizes digital pin #4.

This shield is fully assembled and tested, with a stick of 0.1" header included for easy soldering. We also provide an open-source graphics library, example code, and a wiring tutorial to help you get started. The library supports drawing pixels, lines, shapes, text, and bitmaps, and the code can be easily adapted for use with other microcontrollers.
