Adafruit Infrared IR Remote Transceiver - STEMMA JST PH 2mm - 940nm Emitter + 38KHz Receiver

£6.99 GBP Sale

This versatile board is both an infrared emitter and receiver, combining two essential functions in one compact, solder-free package: the Adafruit Infrared Transceiver breakout. It can transmit and receive 940nm remote control data, making it ideal for a variety of IR applications.

Features:

  • Dual functionality: Transmit and receive IR signals in one board.
  • Solder-free design: Equipped with both solderable breakout pads and a JST PH 4-pin cable, simplifying the setup.
  • IR emitter: Uses a high-power IR LED setup with an N-Channel FET driver, delivering 100mA-200mA of current for a range of 10+ meters. When powered by 5V, it draws 200mA per LED (400mA total), and at 3V, it draws 100mA per LED (200mA total).
  • IR receiver: A vertical IR sensor detects 38KHz modulated signals at 940nm. The demodulated data is available on the OUT pin for microcontroller processing.
  • Debugging: Two yellow LEDs – one for the emitter (IN) and one for the receiver (OUT) – provide visual feedback on signal activity.
  • Easy connection: The board comes fully assembled and tested, with no soldering required. Use a 2mm pitch, 4-pin STEMMA JST PH cable for easy connection or opt for a 0.1" spaced header for soldering.

Important Notes:

  • This board is designed specifically for receiving 940nm 38KHz IR remote control signals, not for proximity sensing or other frequencies.
  • To decode received data, you need a microcontroller capable of pulse-input reading. Ensure your microcontroller supports IR receiver connectivity and decoding, which may require specific code or pins.

This all-in-one IR transceiver is perfect for projects requiring both infrared transmission and reception without the hassle of multiple components.
