The Adafruit MCP9601 I2C Thermocouple Breakout (also known as MCP96L01) is the perfect solution for interfacing thermocouples with your microcontroller or single-board computer over I2C. This breakout board takes care of the delicate amplification and cold-compensation reference required for thermocouples, so you don't have to worry about the analog complexities. It supports a wide range of thermocouple types, including K, J, T, N, S, E, B, and R types, making it incredibly versatile.
With this breakout, you can read both the hot junction (thermocouple temperature) and the cold junction (chip temperature), as well as set alerts for over/under temperature conditions. All data is transmitted easily over the common I2C interface.
The board includes the MCP9601 chip, a 3.3V regulator, and level-shifting circuitry, making it compatible with both 3.3V and 5V logic. It also comes with a 2-pin terminal block for connecting your thermocouple and a pin header for easy breadboard or perfboard connection. You can pair it with our 1m K-type thermocouple for quick setup.
