£16.80 GBP Sale

The MAX31855K Thermocouple Interface Breakout Board is a powerful, easy-to-use solution for interfacing K-type thermocouples with any microcontroller, even those without an analog input. This board simplifies the process by integrating everything needed for precise temperature measurement, including a MAX31855K chip, 3.3V regulator, level shifting circuitry, and 10uF bypass capacitors. It comes fully assembled and tested, with a 2-pin terminal block for thermocouple connections and a pin header for breadboard or perfboard use. This board pairs perfectly with our 1m K-type thermocouple.

Key Features:

  • Compatible with K-type Thermocouples: The board is designed exclusively for K-type thermocouples and will not work with other types.
  • Wide Temperature Range: Measures temperatures from -200°C to +1350°C with 0.25°C resolution.
  • Cold-Junction Compensation: The MAX31855K integrates an internal temperature sensor to automatically compensate for cold-junction temperatures.
  • SPI Communication: Outputs data via SPI, requiring just 3 digital I/O pins from your microcontroller.
  • Power Supply: Compatible with 3.3V to 5V power and logic levels, making it ideal for use with a variety of microcontrollers, including Arduino and Raspberry Pi.

Improvements and Compatibility:

  • New Version: The board now uses the MAX31855K, which offers a broader temperature range compared to the previous MAX6675. Please note that this version is not pin or code compatible with the MAX6675, so designs using the older chip will need some adjustments.
  • Ferrite Beads & Filter Capacitor: Version 2.0 includes ferrite beads and a filter capacitor for enhanced stability.
  • Terminal Block: The board now features a pre-soldered 2-pin terminal block for easier thermocouple connections.

Power and Setup:

  • Operates from a 3.3V to 5V power supply.
  • Includes level shifting circuitry for compatibility with 3V or 5V logic devices like Arduino and Raspberry Pi.
  • Outputs SPI data, requiring just 3 digital I/O pins for communication.

Software Support:

  • We provide both Arduino and CircuitPython libraries, along with wiring diagrams and example code to get you started quickly.

This breakout board is perfect for anyone needing a simple thermocouple interface with precise temperature measurement capabilities. Whether you're working on industrial, scientific, or DIY temperature monitoring projects, the MAX31855K breakout board ensures you get reliable readings with minimal effort.
