The Adafruit 2.2" TFT Display Breakout is the perfect solution for adding a compact, vibrant, and high-quality display to any project. Featuring a 320x240 pixel TFT display, this module uses a 4-wire SPI connection and has its own pixel-addressable frame buffer, making it ideal for even small microcontrollers with limited memory and I/O pins.

Unlike older, low-cost displays like the "Nokia 6110" LCD, which suffer from poor color reproduction and slow refresh rates, this display is a true TFT with an ILI9341 (or compatible) driver that supports 18-bit color (262,144 shades!). This means vibrant and crisp visuals for your projects.

The breakout board comes with the TFT display already soldered onto it, utilizing a delicate flex-circuit connector, and includes an ultra-low-dropout 3.3V regulator and 3.3V/5V level shifter, allowing compatibility with both 3.3V and 5V power sources. Additionally, a microSD card slot is included, making it easy to load full-color bitmaps from a FAT16/FAT32 formatted microSD card (note: microSD card not included).

We’ve also made it easy for you by providing a full open-source graphics library that supports drawing pixels, lines, rectangles, circles, text, and bitmaps. The library is written for Arduino but can easily be adapted for other microcontrollers. For optimal performance, we recommend using the hardware SPI pins, as software SPI can be slower on displays of this size. Check out the example code for quick wiring assistance, or refer to our upcoming detailed tutorial.

Additionally, this display breakout features an 18-pin "EYESPI" standard FPC connector with a flip-top connector, allowing you to use an 18-pin 0.5mm pitch FPC cable for a solderless connection to the GPIO pins when you prefer not to solder.

Key Features:

  • 2.2-inch TFT display with 320x240 pixels and 18-bit color (262,144 shades)
  • Uses 4-wire SPI for easy communication with microcontrollers
  • Includes 3.3V regulator and 3.3V/5V level shifter for compatibility with both 3.3V and 5V logic
  • MicroSD card slot for loading full-color bitmaps (card not included)
  • Full open-source graphics library and Arduino example code
  • Features EYESPI connector for easy solderless connections with an FPC cable (sold separately)
  • Great for small, memory-limited microcontrollers

This display breakout is perfect for adding a bright, colorful, and responsive screen to your next project, and its easy-to-use design and open-source library make it a great option for makers at all levels!
