FeatherS2 - ESP32-S2 Feather Development Board

Introducing the FeatherS2 – a high-performance development board based on the ESP32-S2 from Unexpected Maker. This powerhouse board packs a serious punch with 16 MB of Flash memory for firmware and file storage, along with 8 MB of QSPI-based external PSRAM for large storage buffers, making it perfect for memory-intensive projects.

Key Features:

• Dual 3.3V Regulators:

  • The first regulator powers the main components of the board, including the ESP32-S2, RAM, and Flash memory.
  • The second regulator is dedicated to powering external 3.3V modules, sensors, and peripherals. This LDO (Low Dropout Regulator) is connected to GPIO21 for programmable EN control and can be automatically shut down when the ESP32-S2 enters deep sleep mode, saving power in energy-constrained projects.

• High Efficiency: Both regulators are ultra-low noise and have ultra-low quiescent current, capable of supplying up to 700mA output.

• STEMMA QT Connector: Includes a chainable I2C port for seamless connectivity with a wide range of STEMMA QT sensors and accessories. The connector is SparkFun Qwiic-compatible, enabling you to easily plug in I2C sensors, OLEDs, IMUs, and more without soldering. Simply use a compatible cable and start adding sensors to your project!

• Built-in CircuitPython Support: The FeatherS2 ships with CircuitPython 6.0 beta, which makes programming easy. Just plug in the board, and it will appear as a USB flash drive on your computer. You can drag and drop code or edit directly on the drive, streamlining the development process. And, with future updates available from circuitpython.org, you can keep your board up to date.

• Compatibility with ESP-IDF and Arduino: If you prefer C++ coding, the FeatherS2 is also supported by early ESP-IDF and Arduino IDE, giving you flexibility in how you develop your projects.
