Flora Wearable Ultimate GPS Module

The Adafruit Flora GPS Module is the perfect way to integrate GPS functionality into your wearable projects. Part of the Flora series of wearable electronics, this module is designed specifically for use with the Flora motherboard, making it ideal for wearables and small electronics. It features our Ultimate GPS module, a small, low-power, and thin GPS solution with built-in data-logging capabilities, offering exceptional performance:

This GPS module uses the MTK3333 chipset, a high-quality GPS receiver capable of tracking up to 22 satellites across 66 channels. It offers excellent high-sensitivity (-165 dB tracking) and can provide up to 10 location updates per second for rapid and accurate tracking. Whether you're using it for logging or real-time location updates, this module delivers fast and precise results while drawing minimal power.

Notable Features:

• External Antenna Support: The built-in ceramic patch antenna provides great sensitivity, but you can connect an external 3V active GPS antenna via the u.FL connector. The module automatically switches to the active antenna when connected.
• Data-Logging: With built-in FLASH memory, the module can log GPS data (time, date, longitude, latitude, and height) every 15 seconds when a fix is available. This data is stored for up to 16 hours and is automatically appended, ensuring no data is lost even if power is lost. This feature is ideal for projects that need continuous GPS data without constant communication with the microcontroller.
• Low Power Consumption: Once the logging is started, the Flora can go to sleep, significantly reducing power usage without losing the ability to record GPS data.
• Fix Status LED: A built-in LED blinks while searching for satellites and pulses once every 15 seconds when a fix is found, helping you monitor the GPS status. You can also connect an external LED via the FIX signal pin.

The module comes fully assembled and tested, and we’ve included easy integration with the Flora motherboard. If you'd like to enhance the GPS accuracy or speed up fix recovery, you can add a sewable CR2032 battery for RTC backup.
