This compact and efficient board combines the functionality of two breakouts—an I2S DAC and an amplifier—into one device.

I2S is a digital audio protocol used to transmit audio data, commonly found in high-end chips and processors. It uses pins for data input, data output, bit clock, and left-right channel select. Typically, an I2S DAC chip converts the digital signal into analog sound that can drive speakers or headphones.

This small but powerful mono amplifier delivers 3.2W of power into a 4-ohm speaker (with a 5V supply and 10% THD) and operates from 2.7V to 5.5V DC. Being a Class D amplifier, it’s highly efficient and ideal for battery-powered projects. It also includes built-in thermal and over-current protection, though it remains cool even during operation.
