If you're looking for a compact color display with buttons and a joystick, the Adafruit 1.3" Color TFT Bonnet for Raspberry Pi is an excellent choice. It features a 240x240 pixel IPS TFT display controlled over SPI, providing high contrast and great visibility in a small 1.3" diagonal size.
In addition to the display, this bonnet offers a 5-way joystick and two pushbuttons for easy control interfaces. It also includes a Qwiic/STEMMA QT connector for connecting I2C sensors and devices seamlessly.
The bonnet is easy to use with a kernel driver and Python library for the ST7789 chipset, supporting text and graphical interface through Raspberry Pi OS. It can deliver up to ~15 FPS for animations or simple video display.
