The HUZZAH32 Feather is an ESP32-based development board, featuring the official WROOM32 module, designed to deliver a seamless development experience. It integrates all the essentials that you love about Feather boards: built-in USB-to-serial converter, automatic bootloader reset, Lithium Ion/Polymer charging capability, and nearly all GPIOs exposed for easy integration with Feather Wings. This Feather is perfect for wireless or Internet-connected projects due to its dual-core ESP32 chip with WiFi and Bluetooth Classic/LE support.
Key features include 4MB of SPI Flash, a tuned antenna, and all necessary passive components for making the most out of the powerful ESP32 processor. It’s part of the Feather ecosystem, so it’s compatible with over 50 Feather Wings, offering endless possibilities for your projects.
The ESP32 brings a significant upgrade over the ESP8266, with more GPIO pins, additional analog inputs and outputs, extra peripherals like a spare UART, dual cores for efficient processing, and a faster clock speed. It’s an excellent choice for developers and makers who need more advanced functionality in their IoT and wireless applications.
However, the ESP32 is still developer-targeted, meaning some peripherals may not be fully documented or bug-free. For instance, while I2C, SPI, and analog reads work under the Arduino IDE, other features are still being refined. As a result, we recommend this Feather for users with some microcontroller programming experience, rather than for beginners.
