• Power Requirements: Power the entire setup with 5VDC (4-7V is also acceptable) to get the full potential of these bright LEDs.
• 32-bit Color Control: Each LED is controlled with 8-bit PWM per channel (R/G/B/W), providing 32-bit color control per pixel, allowing you to achieve a wide range of vibrant colors and lighting effects.
• Timing-sensitive Protocol: NeoPixels use an 800 KHz protocol, which requires specific timing. These jewels can be controlled with an 8MHz or faster microcontroller such as AVR, Arduino, or PIC.
• PWM Rate: NeoPixel LEDs operate at a ~400 Hz PWM rate. While effective, this rate may become noticeable if the LEDs are in motion. For smoother transitions, DotStars are recommended.
• Microcontroller Compatibility: Due to its timing-sensitive nature, it’s important to use a real-time microcontroller like Arduino. It’s not compatible with Linux-based microcomputers or interpreted microcontrollers like Netduino or Basic Stamp.
