Description
This 7.0" TFT screen features a high resolution of 800x480 pixels and an LED backlight, providing vibrant and sharp graphics. It is well-suited for applications requiring large display areas such as miniature TVs, GPS devices, handheld games, and car displays. The display uses a 40-pin connector with 8 red, 8 green, and 8 blue parallel pins supporting 24-bit color.
Note: This version does not include a touchscreen. It is the same TFT display as product ID 2354 but without the resistive touch panel, making it more affordable.
This is a raw pixel-dot-clock display without an SPI/parallel controller or onboard RAM, requiring continuous refreshing at 60Hz with timing signals like pixel clock, vertical sync, and horizontal sync. Typically, high-end processors like BeagleBone can natively support such RGB TTL displays; however, small microcontrollers usually cannot without specialized hardware or a very fast processor such as an FPGA. The backlight requires a 125-150mA constant-current boost converter that can reach 9V.
For ease of use, consider pairing this display with the Adafruit RA8875 driver board, which handles video RAM and timing requirements, compatible with many microcontrollers including Arduino. For HDMI or DVI output control, the Adafruit TFP401 driver board is suitable.
