The Arduino Uno Rev3 SMD is a powerful microcontroller board based on the ATmega328P, offering the same functionality as the standard Uno Rev3 but with a space-saving Surface-Mount Device (SMD) microcontroller. Ideal for embedded applications, education, and prototyping, this version is perfect when you need a more compact solution without compromising on performance.

Equipped with 14 digital I/O pins (6 supporting PWM), 6 analog inputs, a 16 MHz ceramic resonator, USB port, power jack, ICSP header, and a reset button, it comes with everything needed to kickstart your electronics journey. Simply connect to a PC via USB or power it with an AC-to-DC adapter or battery — and you're ready to build.

Unlike the traditional Uno with a DIP (Dual Inline Package) microcontroller, the SMD version features a permanently soldered ATmega328P chip. This provides increased reliability in rugged or permanent setups where socketed chips may be less ideal.

In addition, the board features the ATmega16U2 for USB-to-serial conversion instead of the older FTDI chip, offering faster transfer rates and more control over USB connections.

Additional Rev3 Highlights:

  • Stronger RESET circuit for better stability.

  • 1.0 pinout with added SDA and SCL for I2C/TWI communication.

  • New IOREF pin allows shields to adapt to the board’s voltage.

  • Reserved pin for future hardware compatibility.

The word “Uno” means “One” in Italian, symbolizing its status as the reference board for Arduino IDE 1.0. Whether you're a beginner or a developer looking to create interactive devices, the Uno SMD provides a reliable, documented, and community-supported platform to bring your ideas to life.
