If you're a fan of our monochrome OLED displays but need something larger, the 2.7" OLED Display will certainly impress you! With a high-contrast white OLED screen made of 128x64 individual pixels, each pixel is independently controlled, offering a crisp, sharp display that doesn’t require a backlight. This makes it not only more power-efficient but also results in incredibly high contrast for clear and readable text and graphics.
This display uses the SSD1325 driver chip and supports both 8-bit and SPI communication modes, though we recommend using SPI for simplicity and fewer connections—just 4 or 5 wires needed. It operates at 3.3V power and logic levels, but don’t worry, we’ve included a breadboard-friendly level shifter to allow compatibility with 5V logic devices, like Arduino.
Key Features:
- Large 2.7" Diagonal Display: Perfect for larger projects where you need more screen real estate.
- OLED Technology: No backlight required, resulting in lower power consumption and better contrast. The pixels are individually lit, which contributes to the high contrast.
- SSD1325 Driver Chip: Easily controlled via SPI or 8-bit interface, allowing for flexible integration into your projects.
- Power Efficiency: Typically uses 50-150mA of current from the 3.3V supply, with a built-in boost converter to power the OLED pixels.
- Level Shifter Included: A 74HC4050 (or compatible) level shifter is included to convert 5V logic down to 3.3V, making it compatible with both 3.3V and 5V systems.
- Easy Mounting: The display comes with a bezel and 4 mounting holes for easy integration into your project.
- Customizable Communication: Choose between SPI and 8-bit mode, with instructions provided on how to switch modes by soldering.
Usage & Setup:
- This display requires a microcontroller with more than 1K of RAM because it buffers the full display. Our Arduino library provides example code for drawing text, graphics, bitmaps, and more.
- It uses about 1K of RAM for buffering, and despite the buffering requirement, the display is quick and responsive, perfect for real-time graphics and text rendering.
- OLED Wear & Tear: OLED displays use organic LEDs for each pixel, which means that if left on continuously for over 1000 hours, the pixels will start to dim. To preserve uniform brightness, it's a good idea to turn off the display (set pixels to off) when not in use.
Dimensions & Specifications:
- Screen Dimensions: 2.9" x 1.8" x 0.2" / 74mm x 46mm x 5mm
- PCB Dimensions: 3.3" x 2.2" x 0.05" / 85mm x 58mm x 1.4mm
- Screen Weight: 32g
Whether you’re working on a large-scale project or need a high-contrast display for text and graphics, this 2.7" OLED is the perfect choice. With a simple interface, low power consumption, and high clarity, it's ideal for many applications like digital dashboards, sensors, and graphical displays.
