Description
Connect your computer to a wide range of serial protocols with the USB to Multi-Protocol Serial Cable. This versatile cable supports RS-232 serial, TTL UART serial, RS485, and RS422 protocols, all accessible through quick-connecting screw terminals for easy wiring without soldering or special cables.
Simply plug directly into a USB A or USB C port on your computer. Use a Phillips screwdriver to open the terminal blocks and insert solid or stranded wires for your application.
The cable features an FTDI FT231 USB to serial converter chip, which uses 5V logic and supports UART serial signals converted into various protocols. Supported baud rates range from 300 baud to 3 Mbaud. FTDI drivers are integrated into most operating systems, with optional virtual COM port (VCP) drivers available if needed.
- RS-232: Includes UM213 signal level converter with ±8V logic level I/O, exposing all eight (5/3) RS-232 signals, capable of up to 250 kbps.
- TTL UART: Direct connection to the FT231 with 5V logic level, exposing RX/TX and power pins.
- RS-485/RS-422: UART RX/TX lines connected to MAX485 chips.
- Provides 5V and 3.3V power supplies to power small projects (5V from USB, ~500mA; 3.3V from FT231X, 50mA output).
- Includes red 'Power good' LED and green 'Data transmission' LED indicators.
Note: Only one protocol can be used at a time since there is a single USB-serial chip inside.
