The Adafruit CLUE is a feature-packed development board designed for sensor-rich projects. This compact board has the same size and shape as the BBC micro:bit, making it compatible with existing micro:bit robot kits and add-ons. However, it has been completely redesigned with advanced technology to enhance your projects.

Key Features:

  • Processor: Nordic nRF52840 Bluetooth LE chip with 1MB Flash, 256KB RAM, and a 64 MHz Cortex M4 processor.
  • Display: 1.3" 240x240 Color IPS TFT display for crisp, high-resolution graphics and text.
  • Power: Powered by any 3-6V battery (with an internal regulator and protection diodes).
  • Buttons: Two A/B user buttons and one reset button for easy interaction.

Built-In Sensors:

  • ST Micro 9-DoF Motion Sensors: LSM6DS3TR accelerometer/gyroscope and LIS3MDL magnetometer.
  • APDS9960: Proximity, light, color, and gesture sensor.
  • PDM Microphone: For sound sensing.
  • SHT Humidity Sensor.
  • BMP280: Temperature, barometric pressure, and altitude sensor.
  • RGB NeoPixel LED: For indicators or effects.
  • Two bright white LEDs: For illumination or color sensing.

Connectivity & Storage:

  • 2MB internal flash storage: For data logging, images, fonts, or CircuitPython code.
  • Qwiic / STEMMA QT connector: For easy expansion with additional I2C sensors, motor controllers, or displays. You can also use GROVE I2C sensors via an adapter cable.
  • Hardware Interfaces: SPI, UART, I2C, and I2S on any pins.
  • Buzzer/Speaker: For playing tones and sounds.

Development:

  • Programmable with Arduino IDE or CircuitPython.
  • Bluetooth Data Transmission: Send data to computers or mobile devices for plotting and logging.

Compatibility:

  • Edge Connector: Matches the size and connector layout of the BBC micro:bit, but note that cases for the 'bit may not fit, and code may require adjustments for compatibility.
  • No MakeCode/Scratch support: As of now, there is no official support for MakeCode or Scratch with the nRF52840 chipset, but we hope for future updates.

The CLUE is perfect for projects that require multiple sensors, such as environmental monitoring, data logging, or even creating Bluetooth-connected devices. It's a versatile tool for exploring, measuring, and learning, all packed into one compact board!
