This is a beautifully bright alphanumeric display designed to show both numbers and letters in a stunning blue hue. Perfect for displaying anything from digits like 0123456789 to the entire alphabet, this display is incredibly bright and visible from up to 23 feet (7 meters) away. Each digit consists of seven blue segments on a black surface, offering high contrast for easy viewing.
You will receive a set of two alphanumeric displays, along with a driver board, ideal for creating a clock or displaying messages like a four-letter word. These displays are stackable end-to-end, and by soldering the address jumpers on the back, you can connect up to 8 backpacks using just two I2C wires.
To make your setup even easier, we've updated this popular board to feature two STEMMA QT connectors on either side, compatible with the SparkFun Qwiic I2C connectors. This allows for simple, solderless connections to your development board and the HT16K33, or you can chain it with a wide range of other sensors and accessories using a compatible cable.
Included in the package:
- 2 x Ultra-Bright Blue Alphanumeric Displays (0.54" digit height, 4 digits total)
- 1 x Adafruit 14-segment LED Alphanumeric Backpack (STEMMA QT / Qwiic)
- 1 x 5-pin header
A bit of soldering is required to attach the matrix to the backpack, but it’s easy and takes about 5 minutes. As always, we offer a detailed tutorial to guide you through the soldering, wiring, and control of the display. If you've been interested in alphanumeric displays but were hesitant due to complexity, this is the perfect solution for you!
