Description

The Raspberry Pi Sense HAT V2 is the ideal tool for learning programming and how humans interact with the environment. The Sense HAT, with its complete complement of sensors, was initially created for use on the International Space Station as a component of the educational Astro Pi initiative sponsored by the Raspberry Pi Foundation in collaboration with the European Space Agency.

Numerous projects requiring position, motion, orientation, or environmental sensing are ideally suited for it. The attached Raspberry Pi computer supplies electricity to the Sense HAT.

An officially supported Python library provides access to all of the onboard sensors, the LED matrix, and the joystick. The Sense HAT is compatible with any Raspberry Pi computer with a 40-pin GPIO header.

Applications

  • Consumer Electronics Embedded Design
  • Development Hobby & Education Sensing
  • Instrumentation
Features

The Raspberry Pi Sense HAT V2 is attached on top of the Raspberry Pi via the 40-pin GPIO pins (which provide the data and power interface) to create an ‘Astro Pi’.

The Sense HAT has several integrated circuit-based sensors that can be used for many different types of experiments, applications, and even games.

The sensors enable you to read:

  • Gyroscope
  • Accelerometer
  • Magnetometer
  • Temperature
  • Barometric pressure
  • Humidity
  • Color and brightness

With the help of the magnetometer, you can program a compass to point in the direction of geomagnetic North, which you can see on the LED Matrix. You can also use the LED Matrix to play games like Tetris, Pong, and Snake with the joystick.
